Happy Birthday Grandpa

This is a long distance birthday wish to Grandpa Cook from David and Lydia. Happy Birthday Grandpa, we love you!
David was exhausted from all the excitement.

Lydia loves to crawl around but I guess it gets tiring sometimes, luckily she found a comfy spot to rest her head.

As usual, there are toys and books everywhere, it's good maneuvering practice for Lydia.

David is ready for college and wishes he could go to school with dad, luckily we don't have to pay for his tuition yet.

Happy Birthday Scott!

Everyone started Scott's birthday off with hair that looked about like this. Lydia won first place in the crazy hair contest. After breakfast we opened presents. I say we because Scott being the thoughtful husband and father he is, bought presents for everyone in the family to celebrate his birthday. Next came a game of tennis, playing at the park, lunch, naps, game of SwashBuckled, a dinner of overcooked steak, and then birthday cake.

We found out that ice cream cake melts very quickly but we did manage to relight the candles a couple of times so that David could have a turn blowing them out.

This week has also been Scott's spring break and we've had some nice weather. We've gone to the park everyday, it's been great!

Pictures for Grandparents

There is nothing very new to report, it seems like we keep getting glimpses of spring but then it gets cold again. Somehow the days go by quickly though and David and Lydia are growing up too fast.

David likes to check on Lydia and he always likes to know where she is. Here he is saying hi to her while we were getting ready for church. "YiYa" as he affectionately calls her, still needed to get ready.

On one of those spring-like days we ventured out to play some baseball. It was still cold enough to wear a coat but that makes it hard to swing a bat so David wouldn't keep it on while he was playing. He was kind enough to pose for a quick picture before moving on to the playground.

Catching up

Fireman, cowboy, athlete, kick boxer, mom's helper, this little boy can do it all.
David and Lydia were very excited to have a surprise visit from Grandma Cook. They enjoyed all the extra attention, stories, hugs and kisses they could get.

Lydia obviously had a great time.

The only exciting outing we went on was to the Garfield Park Conservatory. It's always a beautiful place to go to escape the winter.

I asked David to show us his dance moves, he started out that way but then ii turned into a Tae Bo demonstration. My favorite part is his face at the very end when he probably decided that was enough and he'd better quit before it got awkward.
