David is getting bigger

David just keeps growing, he is now virtually busting at the seams every time we put him into his little car seat so we finally bought a larger, front-facing car seat. He seems to like the box more than anything.

He is not only growing but is also learning lots. He now tries to imitate us in everything we do. One such example is writing/drawing with a pen on whatever paper he may find.
However, he has not learned how to clean up just yet.
But above all else he does two things the best . . .

(1) acting silly

and (2) being cute.

Taco Tongue

David has the most incredible tongue; he can contort it in every shape imaginable, including a taco! Now, I am not talking about the hard taco shells that are folded in half that you buy at Wal-Mart--lots of people can curl their tongue like that. I am talking about those tacos that are wavy all the way around after being shoved into a foil bowl served at Mexican restaurants. The sad thing is that it is almost impossible to catch on film or photo. This video is the best we have been able to achieve so far. It doesn't capture the taco tongue nor does it remotely do his skills justice but it is none the less rather amusing.

Lots of Laughs

Before we get to this blog we have to clarify something pointed out in the comments of the last post in relation to the psychotic Woody Woodpecker laughter. What was mistakenly thought to be laughter produced by Scott was in reality coming from David himself; Scott was not even present when the film was taken. Yes, that's right, David's cry of frustration sounds very much like laughter. However, once you hear how he really laughs the two sounds are distinguishable. Here are some videos of him actually laughing so that the distinction can be made more readily.

David Learning to Walk

At nearly 14 months old David is still not walking. He certainly seems to want to as he sometimes tries to stand up but can't quite figure it out. And once he does stand up he gets very nervous and then slowly squats until he is sitting again.

These videos show some of his progress in this area. This first one shows that he at least figured out that he is supposed to be on his feet instead of his knees.

Probably, however, he just does this when his parents are too mean to put pants on him while he crawls around on the cold hard floor. Hence the crying.

The next video shows David progressing even further. We never knew that his highchair could double as a walker.

But as you saw, in the end, he abandoned the entire endeavor to just continue crawling. Maybe someday he will figure it out.

Snow, Snow, Snow!

We finally are having a winter like everyone warned us we would. Last week it was freezing and this week we are getting lots of snow. David was so happy about the snow that he just sat and smiled all day long. We bundled up to go outside after it stopped snowing. While David sat in the stroller and watched the neighbors I tried to remove the snow around our home. I never though I'd use the stroller in the snow but it actually makes a pretty good plow.
To keep busy while it's been so cold outside David tries to explore everything and anything inside. His all-time favorite toy though is his Scooby-Doo ball he received for Christmas.
David seems hungry I guess in this video but I promise we feed him plenty.
