Gingerbread Shoe

Last week our family participated in the local library's gingerbread house competition. The only requirement was that it had to have some kind of storybook theme. We did ours based on Mother Goose's "There was an Old Lady who lived in a shoe". The kids helped put the candy on and we had fun taking it to the library to be displayed.
The best part is that we won a trophy for "Best in Shoe".

David and Lydia got to pick out prizes, Lydia picked out a Beanie Baby cat and David received a Mickey Mouse set of books and a music CD. They were pretty excited!
David had the poem memorized but was always to shy to say it in front of the librarians.

It's almost Christmas!!

The kids and I took a train ride downtown to meet Scott at the big Christmas tree. We visited Macy's to see the window displays and also saw the nativity scene, along with lots of other festive sites.
I've been trying to get a good photo of the kids in front of our tree but for some reason they won't just stand still and smile, or the camera has a bad day. We've had some funny shots as a result though, the first one is my favorite.

David and the Primary kids surprised us at the ward Christmas party with this song . David likes doing sign-language but I didn't know he had been learning this.
