We Made It!

After a long 1524 mile drive John and I arrived in Chicago and were able to check out our new place. We will detail our new apartment in a future blog but all in all I think we did well considering we never saw it before we arrived. The only concern we have is in the kitchen; while the cupboards are quite tall, they start at the ceiling and since we have 9 ½ foot ceilings throughout the apartment it is a little difficult to reach those top shelves (actually the kitchen’s ceiling has been lowered to 8 ½ feet but it doesn’t help too much). At least Sue Ann won’t have to worry about banging her head on an open cupboard door!

We have now gotten much of our apartment arranged along with the furniture including this beautiful new chair which Sue Ann did a superb job in making a cover for it.


David seems to like the place and is as cute here as he was in Utah.


As for our first impressions of Chicago have gone it seems to be a fun and exciting place. We went for a walk around town a bit and saw among other things this giant face of a woman that spits water out at you (it is actually neater in real life as her face moves around).


The cloud gate sculpture (if you look very closely you can barely see our reflection in the sculpture hiding under an umbrella to escape the rain).


And Buckingham Fountain.


And since the only real reason for this blog is to show pictures of David here is a short video of him playing catch with Sue Ann. (No one ever really gets to see what David is like as he always stops what he is doing when the camera is out and mostly justs stares, as in the following. We wish we could catch him doing his funny antics but usually it is to no avail. So to meet the real David you may just have to come and visit and as you can see there are lots of other attractions as well. Hope to see you soon)

The Many Faces of David

Since the only real reason that anybody ever checks our blog is to see pictures of David we thought that we would give you a small sampling of what he looks like throughout the day and during various activities. (I made sure that each picture has a proper link to click on if you want to see it up close)

To begin with we show the typical first glance that you would receive if you were to first enter the room or when he would first notice your presence. What a delightful face to be received by!


This is his general look when he is just sitting around and flapping his arms which is an activity he loves to do. He first learned the practice from the music director at church and never does he fling his arms around with greater gusto than when he spots the director while we are singing the hymns of Zion.



Next up is what David looks like whenever you lay him down on the ground and then go to a position above his head. While you may think it is out of sight he is very adept at rolling up onto the top of his head as he cocks his neck back further than I would ever dare to then just sit there and stare at you.

This is one of my favorites as the standard face David makes when he is being tossed in the air.





Finally, here is the typical face David makes whenever he is being tickled (and it really doesn't matter where, it can be on his back, his sides, under his arms, his neck, his legs, his feet, or virtually anywhere else, he will always laugh).

Lest, however, a picture of David laughing is insufficient, we have included a video as a better visual.




The next post you will see will probably be of us in Chicago as we are moving on Friday and may not have time to post before then. But the biggest reason is that we will have no more photos of David to share as we have already boxed him up for the move.
