More of David and Anya

Well, although Anya has now been home for awhile we thought we would show a few more pictures of the two of them because this is the whole reason for these blogs in the first place. Getting them together was a lot of fun. At some times a strong family resemblance could be seen as in this one below. I think their eyes look almost identical.

While generally cordial to one another, they however had their times of disagreement. Such is the case in the following series of photos. Although they are are only still framed photos, much like stop go animation, by looking at them in order you can see the actions and obvious intent of Anya in expressing her displeasure with David through the use of her kick boxing training. I remind you that these photos were taken by a high powered camera at numerous frames per second thus attesting to Anya's lightning fast speed and agility as she tries to take out David's legs.

Fortunately for David, they were already both lying on the ground and so no harm was done. And to further show his forgiveness and charm David was still willing to share his caterpillar rattle with Anya but having learned his lesson and has remained on his toes since then, poised to react at a moments notice to any other such outburst.

David and Anya

This is mostly just a test to see how this new video blogging works. Now for those of you that are used to seeing David or Anya only in still life this will be a whole new experience. You will find as is apparent from the video as well as our experience with the two of them together David is very much a little boy, with so much energy that he can't sit still but is always flailing his arms about, whereas Anya is a delicate genteel little girl with motions that are all deliberate and controlled. Hopefully she didn't mind David too much.

We sure had fun seeing Anya and Lindy for a few days. We have done lots lately and so will try to get some more posts up shortly.

David's Education

After just a few moments of observation David's brilliance becomes painfully apparent. At just 5 1/2 months he is now walking, speaking in full sentences, enjoys mathematics and writing, does crosswords, paints beautiful landscapes inspired by Monet's impressionism, is composing his second concerto grosso (I didn't even know what that was until David explained it to me!), and, to keep in touch with his feminine side, crochets on weekends. His highest aspiration is to become a professor for an ivy league university and prepares for it by wearing a bow tie (which he ties by himself I might add). We took this picture while he was obviously lost in a deep reverie of contemplation.


But, having said all that, David's true love is found in reading. He is particularly attracted to the physical sciences with his present interests revolving around, as seen form the title of his book below, the properties and characteristics of buoyancy. It is hard to get him away from his reading for even a moment and we feel very fortunate that he was willing to interrupt his studies to humor us with a glance for the photo below although he looked rather annoyed at such a nuisance.


Beyond his reading to expand his general knowledge he is allocating much of his time to his own research. Specifically, his current field of concentration lies in the properties of various micro and nano-fiber composite materials with applications in absorption. He has developed a novel, yet highly effective, way of performing his experiments to test absorption that is now patent pending. A demonstration of his technique is shown in the picture below.


Alas, we must however admit that there are a few areas that he is still struggling in, as is apparent from him trying to handle and figure out the mechanics of his pacifier.

Memorial Day

So we are a little behind on our blog postings but will try and catch up this week. Two weeks ago we had the wonderful opportunity of spending the weekend down in Moroni. On the Monday, Memorial Day, we were able to go and spend some time at the cemeteries and pay respect to our ancestors (at least David and Sue Ann did, they are only my ancestors by marriage, however I am certainly grateful for their posterity!). Here is a picture of David with Sue Ann at the resting place of his great grandparents in the Fairview Cemetery.

Besides seeing the cemetery we had a lot of fun just visiting and playing with the rest of the family (those that are still living that is). Here is a picture of David's cousin, Carson, that we just thought was really cute.

As far as David is concerned he is a blast! As you may have noticed from past blog postings, his hair is getting quite thin. In fact, I think he sometimes has hair that looks like Gollum's from the Lord of the Ring films. But, just the same, he sure is cute!

Due to his baldness, I must apologize for this next picture and would advise sunglasses for any with sensitive eyes. He still has a few stragglers of long hair left in a single patch on top amidst all the peach fuzz that vaguely permeates his scalp. To his credit I must also point out the slight patch of hair at the base of his head which is still thick and full, reminiscent of a mullet gone bad. Sue Ann thought it would be funny to gather and braid all of the long hair he has left. As you can see he doesn't have much as it makes for a pretty pathetic pony tail. The poor kid - what kind of a mother would do such a thing!?! (I suppose I shouldn't talk because what kind of a father would then post such a thing on the internet for all to see?)
