September

In preparation for the new school year everyone received a hair cut.  I was hesitant to cut Lydia's but it has since been much easier to comb. It's cut down on the screaming and crying while trying to get it untangled.

 First Day of School
First semi-real (it took about 20 minutes) sewing project since Nathan was born, he's 7 1/2 months old!  I really like to sew but haven't gotten back into it, or found the time yet.
Our neighbors had a garage sale and David and Lydia were in charge of refreshments.  We had fun meeting some new neighbors and the kids came away with new toys (and some pocket change).
We took a field trip to a pick-your-own apple orchard with Lydia's preschool co-op group.
A ride on the "cool bus"

Lydia's favorite game that always ends in a smile.

more today

Lately it seems like I have a hard time getting the kids to do anything I ask them to.

Me:  "David, just say, 'Yes Mom, I'll do whatever you ask me to do'"
David: "Yes Mom, I'll blow bubbles whenever you want me to"

A few minutes later:

Me:  "Lydia, will you please just do what I ask?"
David:  "No Lydia, rules are rules"

The Other Day

Lydia:  "I'm allergic to people".

And some older ones:
1.

David (to Lydia): Let's play Cinderella. You be Cinderella, runaway from me.
                    Lydia starts running
David: Wait! Comeback, I don't even know your name!
Lydia: It's Cinderella.
David: Wait! Comeback, I don't even know you number!

2.
Lydia loves singing the songs from the animated Disney films. Here are the words she uses for "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast (these are the only words she knows):
                    Be our guest,
                    Be our guest,
                    Do the dishes!

3.
David: Ugh! I don't want to eat that for dinner, I don't like it.
Sue Ann: How do you know you don't like it, you don't even know what I'm making?
David waves his hand in front of
his face in an odd yet intentional manner.
Sue Ann: David, I don't know what that is supposed to mean.
David: I can smell it. . . Do you know what it smells like? . . . Gross!
