You know you live in "the city" when..

The other day I was telling David about a raccoon I saw getting in to the garbage can the night before. He looked worried and said, "Mom, did he get out of the museum?". I guess the only wild life we do see around here are in the museums and at the zoo. I think it's time for a visit to the country...

These pictures are totally unrelated but I thought they were funny. I was trying to take a picture of them before church but they were both too interested in The Prince of Egypt movie and I was obviously in their way. Lydia's getting so big, she's talking up a storm and always lets everyone know exactly where she's at in Sacrament Meeting.

Her favorite things are shoes and keys. And by the way, that's not a bucket on her head. We don't have any buckets in this house, only hats that look like buckets.

Easter and Family

I'm still trying to catch up on blogging so this is kind of a later post for Easter. Anyway, David and Lydia loved finding jelly beans scattered around our apartment. I was sure we'd wake up in the morning to piles of ants eating them all but luckily there were no ants to be found. Lydia had a steady stream of slobber from the jelly beans.
My brother and his family came to visit us for their spring break. Carsen turned 5 so we had a little party for him.
We visited the zoo on what I'm sure is the busiest weekend of the year.

We also visited other popular tourist spots in Chicago.

We finally made it to the Skydeck of the Willis (Sears) Tower. It was really cool, especially standing on the glass floor.

A final shot of the city and Lake Michigan.

Our Spring Break

Our Spring Break was marked by two special events, one of which was Scott's birthday. We didn't have near enough candles on the cake but our kids can't count that high anyway:)
We visited downtown and although we missed the dying of the Chicago River green, we at least got to see this fountain that still had some green in it.
The next event was a visit from my sister Betty, we went to the zoo, the Adler Planetarium and the beach next to it. Thanks for coming to visit us Betty, we are excited to see you again in a few weeks!

I guess another exciting thing that happened is something you can read about in this newspaper article!
